With the new year upon us, I’ve decided to make a “2016 To Do List” or a set of new year resolutions that I’ll be attempting to complete by the end of the year. I’m usually against making new year resolutions, because I’m a person that likes to change herself constantly if it’s for the better. Regardless, I’m trying them out this year. I figure, since I’m telling you all about them in the first place, I might as well take you all along as the year progresses, so that’s the plan as well 🙂
1. Write handwritten letters more often
It’s no secret that I love a nice handwritten note, but I never make the time to write our and deliver them to other people; and I definitely want to start!
2.Get outside and walk more
I love being outside and just walking. No headphones, no company, just walking and allowing my thoughts to roam. There’s beauty and peacefulness in that, and I want to allow myself to experience that more often.
3. Buy a stranger coffee
I know this is a weird one, but I’ve always wanted to do that thing where you hand the Starbucks cashier a $20 bill when your order only costs $5 and just tell him or her to use the change to pay for the next people in line’s order. I don’t know how often I’d be able to do it (because I use the Starbucks app instead of actual cash), but I surely want to.
4. Spend money on experiences rather than items
I’m notorious for spending any money I get, as soon as I get it. It’s a nasty and repetitive game that I need to stop for my bank account’s sake haha 😛 This year, I want to save my money and spend it on events or traveling rather than clothes and shoes (because I already have enough of those!).
5. Be more honest
Naturally, I’m a brutally honest person and tend to lack the sparing of other people’s feelings when I have something to say, but that’s not what I’m talking about here. I want to tell people how I feel more often. When I love someone (whether it be in friendship or more), I want to tell them, when someone inspires me, I want to tell them, when someone effects my life in a positive way, I want to make sure they know because if it were said to me, it would mean the world. On a planet full of hate, deceit, and people feeling lost, sharing those thoughts with another could mean the difference between them having a good day or a bad day.
6. Do something that scares me
I’m usually the type of girl that always follows the rules and doesn’t stray from the beaten path, and while being that type of person is not wrong or bad in any way, I want to experience life in a differently. I want to live in a way that makes my heart race in the best way possible; living towards a wonderful life full of great stories to tell!
7. Be more conscious of what goes into my body
I love to eat, and with that comes the desire to eat the most delicious thing there is available to me, regardless of whether that is the healthiest option. This year, I want to focus a part of my mind on what is entering my body and ensuring that it’s supposed to enter my body. That doesn’t mean I won’t indulge here and there on the things that aren’t necessarily the healthiest of food options, but I’ll definitely be more aware of how much of that I’m actually intaking.
Well, those are my 7 resolutions for 2016, and I’m hoping that I’m able to fulfill all of them. To be honest, I’m worried that 7 is a little ambitious, but we’ll see how this works out haha 😛 What’re your 2016 resolutions? Let me know in the comments!
